Tenere 700: Pyramid Fender Extender - Shock Sox Fork Protectors - Seal Mate Fork Seal Tool

Image
Pyramid Fender Extender Helps keep rocks & mud off the front of the motor & radiator   Shock Sox Fork Protectors Helps to keep dirt from getting into the fork seals   Seal Mate Fork Seal Tool A great tool to keep on the bike for cleaning debris out of the fork seals.  If the seals start to leak all they may need is cleaning vs replacement.

Tenere 700: Wolo 300-2T 360 hz Low Tone 115 db 4.5 amp Disc Horn + Relocated OEM Horn

Image
Wolo 300-2T 360 hz Low Tone 115 db 4.5 amp 3.5" Disc Horn Wolo 300-2T 360 hz Low Tone 115 db 4.5 amp 3.5" Disc Horn mounted in oem location using 3.2 mm (1/8") aluminum stock, louder with a deeper tone & similar to a car than oem 2 7/8" horn,  which has a higher tone . I originally had them mounted back to back on the same aluminum mount, but the vibration/resonance counteracted each horn reducing their output so relocated the oem to the right side. Wired in parallel to connect to the oem spade connector, actual draw is 5.5 amp for both.  Mounted the oem on the right side, to the frame down tube using a bicycle seat post clamp I had.  Both horns combined are  louder & more omni directional being located on either side of the bike & appear to get more recognition from drives on either side of the bike 👍

Tenere 700: Camel Anti-Bobble-Head Brackets - Cyclops TPMS - BlueFire Voltmeter 5V 3.0 amp + 2.4 amp Dual USB Outlet

Image
Camel Anti-Bobble-Head The Camel Anti-Bobble-Head brackets connect at 3 points, accessory cross bar/windscreen mounting bracket, instrument mounting bracket & headlight bracket, effectively connecting all 3 together dramatically stiffening the entire structure & reducing the annoying/distracting bounce/vibration of the headlight & instruments...the instrument panel still has some movement/isolation via their rubber mounts to the assembly...a well thought out mod imho👍   Camel Anti Bobble-Head Brackets Installation Video Cyclops TPMS Cyclops TPMS mounted high & adjacent to the gear position indicator on the Camel ABH using a rubber coated electrical clamp.  It & the Volmeter/USB outlet below are hard wired to the switched oem 2 amp auxillary outlet circuit (updated to 3 amp fuse).  The Cylcops TPMS worked flawlessly for 4 yrs & 30k km on my Super Tenere 1200. I wired it into the oem 2 amp fused/switched circuit that the oem accessory outlet and unused 2 wire acc

Tenere 700: Guglatech Ultra 4 Air Filter Pre-oiled & Fuel Filter - No Toil Evolution Air Filter Maintenance Kit - Air Filter Technology/Material - Other T7 Air Filter Options ( FunnelWebFilter, Twin Air, UniFilter)

Guglatech Ultra 4 Air Filter Pre-oiled MAB009 & Fuel Filter M22006-ARM  (Aug 2020) They are regarded as providing outstanding air & fuel filtration available in a reusable format. Air filtration down to 30 microns with increased air flow vs oem that can be used dry or oiled & fuel filtration via a sock that drops inside the neck of the gas tank & filters out contaminates such as dirt, sand & water every time you fuel up. I used the fuel filter in my Super Tenere for 4 yrs. The combo kit is the best value & sold in the US by BestRest Products or directly from Guglatech in Italy. Performance of the Ultra 4 during desert racing can be viewed here . Guglatech uses Rock Oil Factory Eco Foam Oil, which is not readily available in Canada, but also recommends No Toil & other quality filter oils. Rock Oil Factory Eco Foam is a non-toxic, water soluble air filter treatment. It’s compatible with all foam, cloth, and matrix air filters which can be cleaned with just

Tenere 700: Fuel Gauge Non-Linear & Correlation of # of Bars Displayed to Mileage Travelled

Image
Tenere 700 Fuel Gauge is Non-Linear & Correlation of # of Bars Displayed to Mileage Travelled The T700 doesn't begin showing change until it has been ridden awhile...here is the corresponding mileage for when each of the fuel bars disappeared (my 2nd tank of fuel). This is based on filling the tank to 1/2 way between the bottom of the filler neck (what Yamaha recommends) & to the top of the filler neck: 6th bar @ 140 km (87 miles) 5th bar @ 185 km (115 miles) 4th bar @ 220 km (136 miles) 3rd bar @ 240 km (149 miles) 2nd bar @ 280 km (174 miles) 1st Bar - starts blinking denoting reserve @ 300 km (186 miles)..then display counts up showing kms/miles...reserve =  4.3 litre or 1.14 us gal range is approx 70 - 100 km or 43 to 62 miles depending on conditions & your right wrist :) Tank capacity = 16 litres or 4.2 us gal.  My on-board computer under calculates  mileage by 1 to 2 km/l vs actual.  Average fuel mileage over 9 tanks & 3k kms = 23.6 km/l or 66.6 mpg (Imperia

Tenere 700: - Tenere 700 Speedometer & Odometer Accuracy vs GPS - ABS Ring Correction

Image
Tenere 700 Speedometer & Odometer Accuracy vs GPS My Tenere 700 speedometer indicates speed approximately +8 to +10% (allowable by industry regulations) above actual speed depending on tire & wear vs phone GPS, however the odometer is more accurate & within 1-2% of GPS readings & road mileage markers on level ground (industry regulations require more accuracy of odometers).  The Tenere 700 utilizes the front ABS ring for input, however, the bike's electronics likely apply different computations for speed & odometer.   ABS Ring Correction Sensor input for speed, & likely odometer, are determined from the front wheel ABS sensor ring. ABS rings with 42 slots (oem = 46 slots) are available to adjust speed display lower by approximately 10%, however, will likely adjust the odometer lower by the same 10% compensation & lower than actual mileage. Both front & rear ABS rings should be changed to ensure correct ABS operation & prevent error codes.  The

Tenere 700: Will Not Shift Into 1st Gear When Shifter Adjusted Below Top of Footpeg Cleat

Image
Tenere 700 Will Not Shift Into 1st Gear When Shifter Adjusted Below Top of Footpeg Cleat Shifter arm hits footpeg casting/stop when shifting into 1st gear preventing shifting into 1st gear when shifter is adjusted below the top of the oem footpeg cleat (rubber insert removed).  Some have filed off the stop tab as a solution. Reported to my Yamaha dealer who forwarded it on to Yamaha Canada whose only reply so far was to not alter the stop tab.  Note: I slightly filed down the end of the aluminum tab a few mm to allow for lower adjustment...just enough so that the floating lower adjustment knuckle has about 1-2 mm clearance from the footpeg mount...the top of the shifter rubber is now level with my Pivot Pegz Mark IV mounted in the low position (PP advertises  10 mm (0.4") lower on  diagonal , 3 mm (1/8") back for the T7 mount...in reality about 6mm or 1/4" vertical drop).

Tenere 700: Seat Joiner Mod to Simplify Seat Removal Without Tools

Image
Seat Joiner Mod to Simplify Seat Removal Without Tools A simple way to eliminate the rider seat oem allen bolts & simplify seat removal is to remove the pressed in flanged metal guide posts inserted into the top of the seat rubber grommets, flip them upside down & bolt them to the seat frame using the allen bolts w/blue locktite. Now the seat can be easily removed & secured in place by positioning the seat grommets over the metal posts. Adding a 3/8" x 5" length of fuel hose with a slit cut in 1 side to attach it to the plastic holder for the allen key located on the back of the seat pan, as seen in the pic, will ensure a tight interface with the leading edge of the passenger seat when locked in place & thus securing the riders seat. Completed Mod Posts in oem position

Tenere 700: The T7 Journey Begins (own)

Image
My Tenere 700 Journey Begins Aug 01, 2020 Thanks Casey Klinkeaw @ GA Checkpoint Yamaha for setting me up with a great early B-Day toy!  2020 will go into the history books as an auspicious year with the impact of Covid-19 & the arrival of the much hyped Tenere 700 after a 4+ year teaser campaign/delays by Yamaha. I'm sure that pandemics & sunamis were not in Yamaha's business plan...which manifested in their challenged ability to meet demand!  After 5 years & 40k kms of pampering, tweaking & customization to my much loved 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 ES to get it set up & kitted to perfection for me, my plan was to ride & enjoy 😀 2014 Super Tenere 1200 ES - farewell "Dark Night" June 2020 My 2014 Super Tenere 1200 ES Ownership can be viewed elsewhere on this is blog But the changing tides & realization that the few character flaws my S10 had in terms of off-road handling aggravated by a double whammy of worsening neck & low back iss
