Tenere 700: Will Not Shift Into 1st Gear When Shifter Adjusted Below Top of Footpeg Cleat

Tenere 700 Will Not Shift Into 1st Gear When Shifter Adjusted Below Top of Footpeg Cleat

Shifter arm hits footpeg casting/stop when shifting into 1st gear preventing shifting into 1st gear when shifter is adjusted below the top of the oem footpeg cleat (rubber insert removed).  Some have filed off the stop tab as a solution. Reported to my Yamaha dealer who forwarded it on to Yamaha Canada whose only reply so far was to not alter the stop tab.  Note: I slightly filed down the end of the aluminum tab a few mm to allow for lower adjustment...just enough so that the floating lower adjustment knuckle has about 1-2 mm clearance from the footpeg mount...the top of the shifter rubber is now level with my Pivot Pegz Mark IV mounted in the low position (PP advertises 10 mm (0.4") lower on diagonal, 3 mm (1/8") back for the T7 mount...in reality about 6mm or 1/4" vertical drop).
