Tenere 700: Coolant Change - Mazima Coolanol High Performance Coolant & Redline WaterWetter® Super Coolant

 Coolant Change

Yamaha specifies ethylene glycol antifreeze containing corrosion inhibitors for aluminum engines mixed with distilled water at a 1:1 ratio for the Tenere 700 to be changed every 3 years.

Maxima Coolanol High Performance Coolant - from Maxima website

High performance coolant and antifreeze formulated to provide protection from overheating and freezing under even the most extreme conditions. The extensively developed formulation combines premium ethylene glycol and pure deionized water with advanced additive chemistries to provide optimum cooling, water pump lubrication and corrosion protection for all liquid-cooled engines. The robust anti-foam system minimizes pump cavitation, thereby increasing cooling capacity and extending equipment life.

Redline WaterWetter® Super Coolant

Redline WaterWetter® Super Coolant is designed to provide improved metal wetting & excellent corrosion inhibition when added to plain water or a glycol coolant improving heat transfer & lowering temperatures. Red Line's unique WaterWetter® reduces the surface tension of water by a factor of two, which means that much smaller vapor bubbles will be formed. Vapor bubbles on the metal surface create an insulating layer which impedes heat transfer. Releasing these vapor bubbles from the metal surface can improve the heat transfer properties in this localized boiling region by as much as 15%.

From Redline Website

  • Unique agent for cooling systems that doubles the wetting ability of water
  • Rust and corrosion protection allows for use of straight water in racing or reduced antifreeze levels in warm climates
  • Improves heat transfer and reduces cylinder head temperature
  • Use one bottle for most passenger cars and light trucks, treats 3 to 5 gallons or 13.2 to 15.9 liters, vehicles with larger cooling systems should use two bottles, small cooling systems should use 1oz (3 to 4 capfuls) per quart
  • Compatible with new or used antifreeze (including DEX-COOL® and long-life versions) to improve the heat transfer of ethylene and propylene glycol systems
  • Satisfies ASTM D2570 and ASTM D1384 corrosion tests for glycol-based antifreezes
  • Contains no ethylene glycol

Coolant Change Procedure

Following the procedure as outlined in the service manual below.
