Tenere 700: Pivot Pegz MK 4 - T7 Rally Frame Plugs

Pivot Pegz MK 4 vs OEM + Lowering Instructions (10 mm lower on diagonal, 3 mm back)

I had the 15 mm (0.6") shorter Mk 3 on my 2014 Super Tenere & really liked them, but wished for a little more length...of which the Mk delivers. They certainly felt different the 1st time mounting the bike because of the movement, but you quickly acclimate & they allow easier manipulation of shifter & brake levers, particularly with full height ADV/Endruro boots.  The wider platform feels more secure & distributes your weight more evenly. The advertised benefit of the design is to allow movement of the foot without having to lift off the peg & be less fatiguing for the rider featuring a spring loaded, self centering action...some like it, others do not...some have locked out the rear rotation, leaving just the front rotation...I have become very comfortable with the rotation & don't give it a second thought.

I find that the rotation of the pegs aids comfort, braking & shifting, particularly when standing by allowing a more natural ankle/foot angle.  The Mk 4 is 15 mm (o.6") longer than the Mk 3 & just about perfect for my E width size 47 (us 12) foot in that the peg spans the full width of my foot without being so wide that they uncomfortably force me to relocate my legs forward or behind the pegs in the feet down position at a stop...any wider & I could not comfortably put my feet down on the outside of the peg, which is my natural placement for my 84 cm (33") inseem.  Riders inclined towards aggressively riding their T7 like a true dual sport in technical terrain my wish for an even wider peg to permit improved loading of the pegs, depending on preference & what they are used to.

The Pivot Pegz have proven to be very durable/strong & can be disassembled to re-grease the shaft/bearings + a servicing kit is available to replace the o-rings.  The cleat design provides a solid & predictable interface with your boots without being so sharp that they damage them & cleanout reasonably well in the muck.  I would recommend anyone looking for a quality Adventure/Touring peg to consider them.

Lowering Option

Pivot Pegz advertises that they can be lowered, however, the amount varies by motorcycle model application, by interchanging the left & right mount assembly or by moving the spacer from the underside to the topside of the mount.  On the Tenere 700 it is 10 mm (0.4") lower on diagonal, 3 mm (1/8") back...in reality about 6mm or 1/4" vertical drop...if  more lowering & movement back is desired be forewarned.  A few aftermarket lowering foot peg mounting brackets are now available that replace the oem bracket, but do not work with bikes equipped with center stands because of clearance issues with the right side center stand mounts. Mine are mounted in the lower position.
