Super Tenere 1200: Guglatech Fuel Filter

Image
Guglatech Fuel Filter #M22006-Y from BestRest Products with install tool.  NOTE: position the filter on the left side of tank to avoid contact with the fuel guage sender/float & be cautious to follow install instructions (watch David's video) & do not push too hard with the install tool, just use it to spread the filter (requires rolling up to insert through fuel filler hole). I managed to poke a hole in the bottom corner on my 1st attempt.  "Mr BestRest" David Petersen suggested stitching up with monofilament fishing line which is fuel friendly, so should now be more robust for future re-installs after cleaning, which according to Guglatech isn't too often.  The filtration performance is impressive preventing dirt & water from entering your fuel pump & motor. Super Tenere 1200: Enduristan Sandstorm 3E Tank Bag w/Modified & Enlarged Base Pad - Nelson Riggs SE-2020 70 L Survivor Edition Dry Bag - Neoprene Bag w/First Aid Kit - Helmet Guardian w/Locks

Image
Enduristan Sandstorm 3E Tank Bag w/Modified & Enlarged Base Pad :  largest detachable map pocket in the business, functional, durable, waterproof expandable design & materials   The outer edges of the lower part of the mid section of the tank bag can rub the tank under heavy loading/rough roads (the material used to stiffen/hold the bag shape & allow for expansion caused the problem)....easily prevented by the addition of approx 1" more rubber base pad extending beyond the perimeter of the bag instead of being cut off just outside the stitching.  The front plastic attachment buckles did not have any padding material on the bottom to protect the tank, so I initially glued rubber padding to the bottom of the female buckles & used bicycle inner tubing, but it complicated attachment. Have now added thin rubber matting bought from Home Depot & glued it to the oem base that extends beyond the perimeter of the bag for improved tank protection.   Nel...

Super Tenere 1200: Pivot Pegz MK3 vs OEM Pegs

Image
Pivot Pegz MK3 vs OEM Pegs  I bought Pivot Pegz for 4 reasons: 1) their unique swivel function, 2) larger surface area & reduced mud packing, 3) lowering capability, 4) stronger.  1) A ride review will have to wait until the bike is insured 2) They are wider by 15 mm or 0.6" & the same length....would have preferred another 13       mm or 0.5" of length for my E width size 12 foot 3) Pivot Pegz advertises that they can be lowered, however, only quotes generically that       they can be lowered up to 12 mm or 0.47" by interchanging the left & right mount       assembly or by moving the spacer from the underside to the topside of the mount. The       S10 mount is offset by just 3 mm or 0.12" on one side with no additional spacer, SO       that is the extent of lowering capability!  IF MORE LOWERING CAPABILITY IS DESIRED,       BE FOREWARNED!...

Ride Review: 2014 Motus MST

Image
2014 Motus MST Test Ride @ Noble Rush, Redmond, Wa Well, it finally happened…we actually got to ride a Motus MST (there is also a high performance MST-R model w/180 hp & full Ohlins Suspension) & it turned out to be the same blue bike that cos' Pat 1st saw 2 yrs ago at Hinshaw’s in Auburn with a puddle of oil unceremoniously under it on the showroom floor & the same bike we went to ride last year at Hinshaw’s, but had a dead battery & then the owner changed his mind about us doing a test ride. We did convince them to get it running so we could at least hear it & had to be satisfied with watching a mechanic ride it in the prkg lot…it had that loud Ducati-like clutch basket metallic rattle at idle that would force you to explain to everyone that your $30k+ US bike was not broken! We had learnt that the bike had been sent back to the factory to repair the oil leak & also that Hinshaw’s had just been bought by the owner of the Ducati/BMW/Triumph dealer in Redmon...
